What is EIS©?
EIS© is a web-based Multi-User-Softwaresystem for schools and universities, with which offers of courses can be administrated and users can choose in which of them they want to participate.
This version of the software is Open Source; anyone can get the soucecode for free and may modify or change it for his own use.
This version is a betaversion, number 1.1.

Why that?
EIS© was developed in summer 2002 as diploma of two students (Timm-Martin Siewert and Oliver Marahrens) at the university of applied science in Hamburg, Germany.

What do I need to run EIS©?
The only condition running EIS© is a system with installed webserver, which supports PHP4. The server must have access to a MySQL-Server.
The operating system is not important, you may use what you prefer.
On most systems you need the programms listed at the right of this page. With Microsoft Windows you only need the binary distributions of Apache, PHP and MySQL.

How do I install EIS©?
First you may install the necessary programms to run EIS (see at the right). To install them follow the instructions given with the programs. You can download EIS© itself from this page (see left side of page). You get a zip-file that you may extract to a directory accessyble for your webserver. Other instructions are in the file readme.txt included in the zip-archive (at the moment only in german language).

How will it go on?
EIS© is subjected under GNU-GPL (GNU General Public license) and may be developed and changed as an Open Source-product under the terms of this license. Opinions, Feedback and bug-reports are very welcome under oliver@eis-board.de.
